We are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, an international framework that encompasses global challenges that we must overcome to create a better future and contribute directly to the central and transformative promise of the 2030 Agenda of leaving no-one behind.


The major SDG on which our activities and investment 2020 have the most impact:




  • MXN $177 million in social investment.
  • 156,542 microloans granted.
  • 64,411 people helped.
  • 6,202 food parcels donated, benefitting 31,010 people in alliance with Zurich Santander.
  • 14 nutrition projects benefitting 2,344 minors, supported by Fideicomiso Por los Niños de México.
  • MXN +$15 million invested to support the National Institute for Respiratory Diseases (INER), in conjunction with Zurich Santander.
  • 125 food rations in support of the personnel of the National Institute for Respiratory Diseases (INER) and the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition "Salvador Zubirán" in alliance with Zurich Santander.
  • BeHealthy program for employees.
  • 33 healthcare projects, benefitting 5,042 minors, supported by Fideicomiso Por los Niños de México.
  • Cancer treatments for 452 minors, in conjunction with Casa de la Amistad.
  • MXN $4 millon invested in convalescent plasma, in conjunction with TecSalud.
  • Banco Santander is the leading private sector supporter of higher education in the world.
  • 41,222 scholarships through Santander Universities.
  • 26 education projects, benefitting 5,692 minors, supported by Fideicomiso Por los Niños de México.
  • 4,764 young people and teachers benefited through the Bécalos, UNICEF and Escuela SER programs.
  • Women make up 55% of our workforce.
  • 40% of the members of our Board of Directors are women.
  • We participated in the issuance of first Social Gender Bond in Mexico to drive the financial independence of women within the agricultural sector.
  • We have a gender pay equity of -0.6%, and our goal is to reduce this to practically 0 by 2025.
  • Santander Women in Science scholarships.
  • 92% of active customers supported through Tuiio are women.
  • We promote female talent through our Cross Mentoring, Women Masterminds and 360° Women programs.
  • We extend maternity and paternity leave.
  • We participated in the issuance of a VINTE 20X Sustainable Bond, earmarked for the financing of projects focusing on the development of sustainable communities that help reduce energy use within the residential sector.

  • 66,253 new unique Tuiio customers in 2020.
  • 238,184 people impacted through the Federal Government's program to accredit microentrepreneurs affected by the pandemic.

  • 34% reduction in paper waste;
